Kettlebells for Crossfitters
Russian Kettlebell skills, drills, programming integration, WOD alternatives & why kettlebells will help take any crossfit gym or athlete to higher levels of performance without sacrificing your regular daily programs!
"Consider kettlebells are the legal steroid for the crossfit athlete, they will make you better at everything you do!"
As I have started to learn more & more about Crossfit, Crossfit athletes, Crossfit games and getting to visit with boxes all throughout Washington state there is one thing that keeps recurring throughout, that constant strive to become greater!
Athletes & boxes are spending hours upon hours each week becoming greater at many different aspects of physical culture. In a one week period of a crossfit program one might come across: OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING, GYMNASTICS, POWERLIFTING, SHORT TO LONG DISTANCE RUNNING, SPRINT INTERVALS, STRONGMAN LIFTS, SHORT TO LONG DURATION METCONS(circuit training) and many other various forms of strength & conditioning.
While spending time with more athletes & boxes the one common trend I am seeing is the limited knowledge of kettlebell skills all the while every box has a fair amount of kettlebells collecting dust in a corner. I hear the same thing over & over again, "We only do swings with them and we learned how to do it from a video!" or "We dont know how to incorporate kettlebells into our current programming!" or "We dont use them cause are clients complain of back problems!"
And thus I have created KETTLEBELLS for CROSSFITTERS!
The way I see it, a kettlebell was designed with crossfit athletes in mind, an athlete wishing to become stronger, more powerful, better conditioned & mentally tougher! Even though the kettlebell has been around since the early 1900's, the now popular crossfit athlete has everything to gain from this classic strength & conditioning tool!
The 2 greatest reasons why crossfitters should use kettlebells:
Once basic skills are learned, the foundation exercises will build strength throughout the body starting from your weakest points. kettlebells hunt out weak points in your body and exposes them allowing the athlete to work on what they suck at!
Again, once an athlete has become proficient with two basic exercises: the Russian swing & Turkish get-up, these two exercises are uncompromisable to anything in the strength & conditioning world. Any way you put these exercises into use, they become a deadly assault on your body, lungs, heart & mind! Nothing else can compare to what these two exercise have to offer for every athlete in your box.
